Ingredient
- 1 lb (450 g) cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 1 lb (450 g) plums, halved and pitted
- 1 cup (250 ml) white sugar
- 4-5 tbsp (60 to 75 ml) orange juice
- ¼ lb (110 g) butter, cubed
- 2 ¼ cups (560 ml) all-purpose flour, sifted
- ½ cup (125 ml) flaked almonds
- grated rind of 1 orange
how to cook Apple and Plum Crumble
- Place half the fruit in a large oven prof dish. Sprinkle with ¼ cup (60 ml) sugar and the orange juice before placing remaining fruit in dish.
- Work butter into flour until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in remaining sugar, almonds and orange rind.
- Spread crumble mixture thickly over fruit. Bake at 350°F(180°C) for 35 to 40 minutes or until top is slightly golden. Serve plum crumble immediately, with whipped cream or custard.
